Pickleball tournaments in Naperville, IL: the 2026 complete guide

March 2026 · 9 min read

If you play competitive pickleball in the Chicago suburbs, Naperville has quietly become one of the best tournament markets in the Midwest. Two world-class indoor facilities anchor the scene — Sure Shot Pickleball and The Picklr Naperville — and between them they host everything from APA tour stops and PPA-affiliated championships to The Dink Minor League and local cash events. This guide covers every confirmed 2026 tournament in Naperville, what to expect at each venue, how registration works, and what you need to know about DUPR before you sign up.

The Two Venues You Need to Know

Sure Shot Pickleball

2244 Corporate Lane, Suite 100, Naperville, IL 60563

Sure Shot opened in 2023 and has grown into the largest DUPR club in Illinois. The facility runs 11 climate-controlled indoor courts with professional-grade lighting, a pro shop, and a players' lounge — no membership required to walk in and play. For competitive players, the most important thing to know is that virtually every Sure Shot tournament posts results directly to DUPR, and you'll need an active DUPR account linked to your CourtReserve profile to register for most events.

Sure Shot hosts its own tournament series, partners with APA (Amateur Pickleball Association) for regional stops, runs The Dink Minor League events, and holds two USA Pickleball sanctioned tournaments per year. It's also the home of the Naperville Open, the area's flagship amateur tournament.

The Picklr Naperville

740 Illinois Route 59, Naperville, IL 60540

The Picklr is a national franchise with deep roots in competitive play. The Naperville location hosts PPA-affiliated championships, the Pickle Open series, Integrity Pickleball cash events, and Chicagoland-area qualifier tournaments. If you're chasing PPA ranking points or a path to national amateur championships, The Picklr's events are where that happens in the Naperville area.

2026 Tournament Calendar

March

APA Windy City Amateur Open March 7–8 | Sure Shot Pickleball

The Amateur Pickleball Association's marquee Chicago-area stop for 2026. Two-day format with doubles on Saturday and mixed doubles on Sunday, with singles in the afternoon of one of the days. Open to players 2.5–5.0. Registration uses DUPR ratings for bracket placement — APA takes sandbagging seriously and will move players up if their rating doesn't match their registered division. Early bird pricing was available through registration open; use code SureShot15 for $15 off if still active at time of reading. Scores auto-post to DUPR.

What to expect: APA events guarantee 6+ games with round-robin play followed by bracket playoffs. Most players compete in 7–9 games over the weekend. Format and bracket structure are consistent across all APA events nationally, so if you've played one, you know the drill.

April

2026 Illinois Powerball Amateur Championships (Carvana PPA Tour) April 10–12 | The Picklr Naperville

One of Illinois' two PPA-affiliated state championship stops for 2026. Gold medalists in skill-division brackets earn eligibility for the year-end World Championships in Dallas. Registration opened February 3 at $55, increasing to $75 after March 1. Format is all round robin with playoffs for gold, silver, and bronze. DUPR ratings are used for bracket placement.

This is the most prestigious amateur tournament hosted in Naperville and one of the most competitive in Illinois. If you're a 3.5–4.0 player looking to test yourself against the best amateur competition in the state, this is it.

Sure Shot Spring Tournament April 18 | Sure Shot Pickleball

Sure Shot's spring in-house event. Details TBA — check CourtReserve or Sure Shot's events page for registration. Based on previous events, expect a doubles format with DUPR-rated brackets, round robin into playoffs, and results posted to DUPR. Typically sells out within days of registration opening.

Summer

Naperville Park District All-City Summer Pickleball Tournament Summer 2026 (exact date TBA) | Naperville Park District courts

Open to both youth and adults, this is the city's official community tournament — less competitive than Sure Shot or The Picklr events but a good entry point if you're newer to tournament play and want a lower-stakes first experience. Contact the Naperville Park District directly for dates and registration.

The Dink Minor League Pickleball — recurring events at Sure Shot

The Dink Minor League (MiLP) runs team events at Sure Shot throughout the year. It's a distinct format from traditional singles and doubles tournaments: teams of four players (two men, two women) compete in MLPlay™ format — one women's doubles, one men's doubles, and two mixed doubles games per match, with a Dreambreaker tiebreaker if tied. Divisions run by aggregate DUPR (DUPR 12, 14, 16, 18) rather than individual skill rating.

MiLP events award national leaderboard points, and top finishers earn invitations to The Dink MiLP Championships (moving to February 2027). If you want to compete as a team and experience a format that's closer to Major League Pickleball's style, this is it. A DUPR account is required; registration is per person, and the tournament director will place solo registrants on teams when possible.

Watch Sure Shot's events page and Swish Tournaments for 2026 MiLP dates — they typically run quarterly.

Sure Shot Players Championship Series June–September 2026 | Sure Shot Pickleball (expected)

Based on the 2025 format, this is Sure Shot's signature summer series: a run of qualifying tournaments in June through August, with finalists earning entry to a championship final in September. All qualifying events are doubles partner format, results post to DUPR, and you can enter multiple qualifying events (second entry is discounted). If you don't have a partner, register with "TBD" and Sure Shot will match you based on DUPR rating day-of.

2026 schedule not yet confirmed at time of writing — check CourtReserve under Sure Shot's listings.

August

Naperville Open 2026 August 1–2 | Sure Shot Pickleball

The flagship Naperville tournament. Held on all 11 Sure Shot courts indoors in climate-controlled conditions. Formats available: Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Singles, and Skinny Singles across 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0+ skill divisions.

Registration details:

  • Early bird: $50 first event, closes May 31
  • Standard: $65 first event, opens June 1
  • Additional events: $15 each
  • Registration closes: July 24
  • Withdrawals before July 24: refund minus $20 administration fee
  • Withdrawals after July 24: no refund

DUPR ratings are required and actively reviewed. Brackets can be moved up if your DUPR has increased since registration. Format is round robin for seeding followed by single-elimination playoffs. The Naperville Open typically sells out popular brackets, especially 3.5 and 4.0 doubles — register early.

USA Pickleball Sanctioned Event at Sure Shot August 15–17 | Sure Shot Pickleball

A USA Pickleball sanctioned tournament with cash prizes for all Open Age skill divisions. Two of only a handful of USA Pickleball sanctioned events held in Illinois each year, making this significant for players pursuing UTPR ratings or national ranking points alongside their DUPR. Registration through USA Pickleball's event portal.

Fall/Winter

Triple Team Illinois Pickleball League (formerly ITPL) Winter 2026 season | Sure Shot Pickleball

Not a tournament — a 6-week travel team league that qualifies teams for national competition. Sure Shot fields teams across Women's 3.0, Women's 3.5, and Men's 3.5 divisions. The top team in each division earns a spot at the Triple Team National Championships. DUPR is the official rating system. If you want team-based competitive play beyond one-day tournaments, this is the most structured option in the Naperville area.

What You Need Before Registering for Any Tournament

Get a DUPR account. Almost every competitive tournament in Naperville now requires one. Sign up free at dupr.com or download the DUPR app. Your account needs to be active and linked to your registration platform (usually PickleballTournaments.com, CourtReserve, or Swish) before you can complete registration.

Know your rating. If you've played in any DUPR-tracked event, you already have a rating — claim your account at mydupr.com to find it. If you're unrated (NR), you can still enter most events, but tournament directors will place you based on self-assessment and reserve the right to move you up. Play honestly. Every venue in Naperville has explicit anti-sandbagging policies.

Registration platforms vary by event. Sure Shot's own events register through CourtReserve. APA events go through apatournaments.com. PPA-affiliated events register through PickleballTournaments.com. The Dink MiLP events register through Swish Tournaments. Bookmark all four if you're planning a full season.

Partner logistics. Most doubles events require a registered partner within a set window (usually 2–7 days of your registration) or you'll be waitlisted. If you don't have a partner, register solo and note "TBD" — most Naperville tournament directors actively match solo registrants based on DUPR. The Naperville Open and Sure Shot events are particularly good about this.

The Naperville Competitive Scene: What to Know

Naperville's tournament scene skews competitive. Sure Shot is the largest DUPR club in Illinois for a reason — the players here are serious, ratings are accurate, and sandbagging is policed more actively than at most local events. If you're playing your first tournament after years of open play, the 3.0 bracket is the right starting point regardless of how you perform in rec games.

The 3.5 bracket at most Naperville events is notoriously deep. This is partly because it's the most popular division and attracts athletic players who've recently moved up from 3.0, and partly because competitive players who sandbag down from 4.0 get caught quickly. Expect longer rallies, more third-shot drops, and faster hands at the kitchen than you'd encounter at a casual open play.

For players in the 4.0+ range, the Illinois Powerball Championships in April and the USA Pickleball sanctioned event in August are the benchmarks for the year — the events where you'll find out exactly where you stand against the best amateurs in the state.

Nearby Tournaments Worth Adding to Your Calendar

If you're willing to drive 20–45 minutes, the Chicago metro area adds significantly to your options:

World of Pickleball — Chicago hosts regular tournaments at their Naperville-adjacent facility (2244 Corporate Lane, same building as Sure Shot), with cash prizes for 4.0+ open brackets and gift card prizes for lower divisions.

Highland Park / Danny Cunniff Park hosts the APP Chicago Open (July 22–26, 2026) — the metro area's biggest pro tournament and the one where amateur brackets run alongside professional play. This is the tournament where you can warm up on courts adjacent to Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns. Register through the APP Tour website.

PPA Veolia Chicago Open (October 5–11, 2026, Northbrook) — same concept but PPA-affiliated, at Life Time North Shore. Amateur brackets available across all skill levels.
